IDG publication iPhoneWelt reviews Animail

Animail got tested. iPhoneWelt magazine (a publication of IDG Germany) took it for a walk and reviewed and rated it. And they even did their own demo video! Sweet. You can read and watch both (in German) here:

Animail is Retina ready and now supports Yahoo!Mail accounts

Our second update of Animail just went live on the App Store.

Animail now shines on the gorgeous new iPhone 4 Retina Display. We have redone all the UI elements for the high resolution screen.
Plus Yahoo!Mail users rejoice! We taught Animail a new trick: he now knows how to fetch the news from Yahoo!Mail accounts.

What's new in version 1.0.2:
  • Enhanced UI for Retina Display of iPhone 4
  • Added Yahoo!Mail support
  • Multitasking Support: Sending messages continues after the user switches to another app in iOS4
  • Changes in the iPhone's address book are now immediately reflected in Animail's contact list
  • Fixed: in some cases a single message was added multiple times to the timeline when refreshing

IMAP server settings list

One of the less exciting things we had to do while developing the Animail iPhone app was going through the important webmail services and E-Mail service providers to put together a list of IMAP server settings we want to include in our app. Because we want the initial setup of our app to be as easy as putting your E-Mail address and password in.

Therefore we had to search the different providers' websites for their IMAP settings (if supported at all - I'm looking at you, Microsoft Live / Hotmail!). We did that so you don't have to. At least not on your iPhone.

If you need to get through those mail server configuration assistants on your desktop or laptop, perhaps you can use our first list of IMAP server settings for Googlemail, Yahoo, AOL and others:

If we missed an important E-Mail or webmail service, please let us know in the comments!
